Navigating the sea of electronic music is a journey that always holds rewarding surprises. Last Friday, we were graced with the debut EP from the exceptionally talented Lizzy Jane, titled 'Ignite,' released by the esteemed DOMEOFDOOM. And it's simply enchanting.
As a seasoned DJ, songwriter and producer, Lizzy Jane brings her entire baggage and passion to this project, resulting in a work that reflects not only her musical talent but also her path of self-discovery. Around the EP release, she shared "This record is a body of work about the cycle of re-discovery within oneself. Discovery through trial and error, Development on what brings one happiness, and Expansion on one’s purpose in life & dedication to creativity."
The EP operates brilliantly as a cohesive collection, where from the first song to the last, we are immersed in an experience that is hard to disconnect. With seven tracks in total, each one is expertly produced, showcasing Lizzy's versatility and depth as she effortlessly blends distinct elements. The production is flawless, with intricate layers of sound that blend harmoniously, resulting in a rich, dynamic, and authentic sound.
Lizzy Jane demonstrates her ability to create an engaging and captivating atmosphere throughout the tracks, ranging from pulsating and energetic to moments of contemplation and introspection. The EP kicks off with the enigmatic 'Dusk', followed by the electrifying trap 'Washed Away'. 'Where You Are' delivers euphoric drum and bass, while 'Midnight' offers a chilling atmosphere. 'U&M' ventures into futuristic soundscapes, followed by the mystic allure of 'Connection', and concludes with the serene 'Dawn'. It's one of those compilations you can't listen to just once.
