On May 5th, British DJ and producer Fred Again teamed up with the legendary musician Brian Eno to release their collaborative album, "Secret Life." The album, featuring 11 tracks, is available on all platforms through Four Tet's music label, Text Records.
The tracks of "Secret Life" take a departure from Fred's usual releases, exploring ambient and chillout music genres with a relaxing and immersive sound. In partnership with Brian Eno, a pioneer of the genre, the tracks exhibit subtle complexity, with layers of textures and melodies creating an immersive atmosphere.
Constructed from non-linear loops, the songs feature precise cuts and a careful selection of samples, creating a relaxing atmosphere. The combination of acoustic instruments such as pianos and strings, along with electronic elements and loops, results in a unique and exciting sound.
Fred Again's voice, delivering poetic and reflective lyrics in some tracks, is one of the album's most distinctive features. At times, it seems like a conversation between him and Brian. According to the artists, this collaboration has been one of the most therapeutic experiences they've had in music.
"Secret Life" marks the duo's second collaboration, following their previous work on projects like "Someday World" and "High Life." They have also been friends for many years, with Fred growing up near Eno's studio.
The album conveys a sense of peace and introspection, characterized by a minimalist and experimental approach. It is undoubtedly one of the most exciting releases of the year, requiring time and space away from the everyday chaos to be truly appreciated.
