Alex Scholler, also known as Alison Wonderland, has already become one of the established names in our music coverage through this journey, and today she presents the first complete album of her project Whyte Fang: 'GENESIS', available on all platforms through her independent label FMU Records.
The name Whyte Fang is not new; in fact, it was created by Alex around 2010 when she was learning to produce electronic music. She began releasing tracks under this pseudonym during the golden age of SoundCloud. Returning only in 2021, the project was put on hold after the emergence of Alison Wonderland, who caught the attention of EMI Records (UMG), leading the artist to sign her first major contract and focus entirely on the project as Wonderland.
Now, after three albums as Alison Wonderland, Alex has decided it's time to revive Whyte Fang. In a press statement, the artist explains that she wants to explore a different part of her creativity and step away from the emotional weight of her personal songs.
And it has been a bustling year for Alex, wrapping up her tour in South America with iconic shows at Lollapalooza Argentina, Chile, and Brasil last month, the artist is expecting her first child with her future husband, Ti West. She mentions that the baby is guiding her in certain ways, and she feels more connected to nature and her musicality, so this makes the moment even more special, representing a new chapter in the artist's career and personal life.
To top it off, Whyte Fang will make its big debut with a performance at one of the world's biggest music festivals tonight at Coachella. The set will be livestreamed on the event's official channel in the early hours of Friday 14 to Saturday 15, at 1:30 AM (UTC-3).
For Alison Wonderland fans, the new project may come as a surprise, but for Scholler, Whyte Fang is an opportunity to explore new musical possibilities and reconnect with her roots.
Among the standout tracks on the album for us are "333," which she played in her LollaBR set, the mystical vibe of "Deep End," the wild "High Tonight" featuring Elohim, the heavy beats of "One Million" featuring Chidi Himself, and the emotive "Go," which closes the album masterfully. Each track in the compilation carries its own identity, showcasing Alex's innate talent in composing various sonic fronts.
